Sassy

B-day

approx 1/2009

Color

black

Update 7/2/10: Sassy's short kennel stay may actually have done her some good, as she seems much calmer and less frantic.

Sassy is a quick learner--although she pulls on leash, she quickly learned to walk by a volunteer's side after just a few turnabouts. And she's a good girl when you open the door to get her out of the car...she stands and waits until you take her out :)

We dog tested Sassy in the kennel and believe that she can be placed with a laid back companion. She initially gets very excited, pulling and carrying on like a nutty girl, but with time and walks, she settles down and eventually can even lay down with another dog.

Sassy was spayed at the end of June and is ready for her new family.

Original 6/18/10: Sassy is a return from a rescuer who closed doors for health reasons. She's a sweet sassy girl who has a ton of energy and no manners whatsoever. She needs a home that can give her an outlet for her energy and structure to show her that jumping on people and tables is not acceptable! She's a total lover of people and has never met a stranger.

Sassy is food aggressive with other dogs but is fine with people, so just needs to be fed separately from other animals. She lives with cats and kids. The male bulldog in her home was fighting with her, so she'll need slow introductions to other dogs before she can trust them.

Sassy is in a kennel and needs a foster or adoptive home.

Annie & Bronte

B-day

approx 2003

Color

black

Original 7/24/10: The girls came in from Northern VA, where they've had a lot of changes in the last few months. They spent their first 7 years in a quiet home with a couple, loved and happy. When their first family fell on hard times, the girls were rehomed into a busy home with children. Annie is the more outgoing and confident of the two, and Bronte more hesitant and cautious. Bronte was unable to cope with all of the activity and the children in their new home, and snapped at them when they came close to her bed (which was in the middle of high traffic area). To avoid having Bronte put to sleep by her new owner, we pulled the girls to a kennel in PA while we searched for a nice quiet home for them. We'll be dog testing further in the next week or so, as Bronte was fearful when she briefly met another dog on leash, shaking and barking at him.

Please, these girls are bewildered and sad. Their entire lives have been turned upside down. They need a home to call their own, where they can love and be loved.

Annie & Bronte are in a kennel and need a foster or adoptive home.

Peyton

B-day

2006

Color

black

Original 7/24/10: Peyton will be arriving in PA at the beginning of August. She is currently residing in the NC kennel, and has been there since Nov 2009. Peyton is a 3 year old black female with natural ears. She came to rescue from a shelter after being picked up as a stray. Peyton came in very thin and with calloused elbows and hips, so it appears she has spent a lot of time on hard surfaces. Since being in rescue, Peyton has begun to gain weight, regain her confidence and shiny coat and is becoming quite the pretty lady. She is male dogs and submissive female dogs. Cats are unknown, and she will only be placed with children over the age of 8. Peyton came to MAGDRL in November 2009.
