6th Annual DogFest was a huge success!
If securing a "weatherproof"
location was all we needed to do to guarantee great weather for our
annual Dog Fest, we would have done it six years ago!

We couldn't have asked for a better day for our 6th Annual
Delaware DogFest this past Sunday at St. Anthony in the Hills, in Avondale,
PA. The weather was absolutely gorgeous, we had a great turnout and
the new location was a big hit with everyone.

The pavilion was filled with lots of vendors and rescue
groups, raffles and silent auctions, DJ entertainment and literally
hundreds of well-behaved dogs. I don't think I've ever seen so many
Danes, both MAGDRL and non-MAGDRL, of different colors and sizes at
one of our events before! We were also able to offer free water, bagels
and fruit to attendees thanks to many donations. Outside of the pavilion
there were K9 obedience/agility demos, the parade of paws, a dog watering
station, and grilled hot dogs and sodas for refreshment.

After several years of fine tuning this event, it seemed
all of the elements finally came together for us and we "nailed
it" this year. We even received some coverage from The News Journal,
who was there snapping pictures which were included in the delawareonline.com
article.

I can't thank everyone enough for working so hard on the
scene and behind the scenes to make this event such a huge success,
but here goes:
- Meredith Pedersen, our creative force behind the Fest
- Amber, Dave and "G" Herman for working the table and
transporting,
storing and toting treats, merchandise, etc.

- Laura, Coralynn and Apollo Davis for working the table

- Sue Dorner our master griller

- Leslie Wheeler and Sheila Marshall for working the registration table

- Sheila Marshall, Denise and Chase Moran and Bambi Rohrbough for
working the table

- Kim, Eva, Evan and Otto von Weltin for working the raffle and
silent
auction table

- Regina, Bob, Cocoa and Odie Hill for their attendance and fundraising
efforts
- Lynn, Jake and Blitz Kapcsos for traveling a good distance to
attend
- Susie Marucci for traveling a great distance and working the raffle
and silent auction table
- Kathy Carilli for getting up at the crack of dawn to take the
raffle
items and merchandise to the event
- Dan Robson for donating his services to provide music entertainment
and event announcements
- Zeus Bergman for working the donation coat like a champ
- "Charles" and Don Brown with the Academy of Dog Training
and Agility
for the obedience/agility demos
- The Girl Scouts who worked very hard at the hot dog and raffle
stands
to earn their community service hours
- The MAGDRL Volunteers who drove quite a distance from four different
states to attend (Cindy Kerr, Lissa Scott, Aimee Ross, Brenda Rouse,
Maureen and Staff Bergman, Jenny Pfeiffer, Shari Reich)

- The PR folks and everyone else who helped us get the word out
about
the event
- Everyone for their donations of goods, services and time
I hope I didn't forget anyone, but if I did please know
it wasn't intentional.
If all goes as planned, we'll have next year's Dog Fest
at the same location, so please mark your calendars for the 3rd Sunday
in April 2008.
